About the Lawyer - Scott Turow

Born in 1949, Scott F. Turow is a practising lawyer, a partner of a Chicago law firm, who works pro bono in most of his cases. In a 1995 case he won the release of Alejandro Hernandez, who had spent 11 years on death row for a murder he did not commit.

Turow was lead counsel in Operation Greylord, the federal prosecution of Illinois judicial corruption cases and he also prosecuted the case of state Attorney General William Scott regarding tax fraud.

From 1997 - 8  Scott Turow was a member of the U.S. Senate Nominations Commission for Illinois, which recommends federal judicial appointments and was also appointed to the commission for the reform of the Illinois death penalty.

About the Author - Scott Turow

A bestselling American author of crime fiction based around the legal system, Scott Turow has also written nonfiction books. Three of his novels have been made into movies and his books have been translated into over 20 languages and have sold over 25 million copies.

Turow was born in Chicago. After receiving an Edith Mirrielees Fellowship, from 1970 to 1972, he attended the Stanford University Creative Writing Center.

Turow entered Harvard Law School in 1975 and wrote his first book about this first year at law school called One L in 1977.  He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1978 and became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago, serving in that position until 1986.

After leaving the U.S. Attorney's office Scott Turow published legal thrillers such as The Burden of ProofPresumed InnocentPleading Guilty, and Personal Injuries. All four became bestsellers, and Turow won multiple literary awards, including the Silver Dagger Award.

His most recent book, Innocent,  returns to his main character, the lawyer Rusty Sabich and is a sequel to his most popular novel Presumed Innocent.  INNOCENT continues the story of Rusty Sabich and Tommy Molto who are, once again, twenty years later, pitted against each other in a riveting psychological match after the mysterious death of Rusty's wife.
